Welcome to Mount Pleasant and Central Michigan University!

"Greetings in Christ, dear students! We at Christ the King Lutheran Chapel (CTK) are here to serve you. The most important thing we provide for you is the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament ministry. You are always welcome to join us for worship services where you will hear the Word of God and Christ crucified for you, as well as the opportunity to receive the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at 11:00am. CTK is your “Lutheran church home away from home.” CTK is a joint ministry of the LCMS Michigan District and Zion Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI. You don’t have to become a member of Zion to worship here, nor do you need to transfer from your home church to be a part of our community here.

Fellowship opportunities abound at CTK and you are invited to dive in and get to know fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, find opportunities to grow in your faith and friendships, and even to serve others in need. LCMSU—the campus ministry initiative of our church body—is a nationwide network of Lutheran campus ministries. Our chapter is CTK-LCMSU at Central Michigan University (CMU), and it is a Registered Student Organization at CMU. LCMSU meets on Sunday evenings for Bible Study at 7:30pm, followed by a meeting around 8:15pm. One Sunday a month our Bible study is replaced by a sung service of Evening Prayer or Vespers. Throughout the year, the group goes on some trips, retreats, attends some conferences, and engages in a wide variety of service projects and fellowship events.

Jesus said we would have tribulation in this world, but take heart, Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33). If you choose to pursue higher education, college is part of living in this world, and sometimes college can be quite tough, challenging, and stressful. CTK is here to help you with these struggles and to comfort you with the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’m Zion’s associate pastor, and as your campus pastor, I am always here for you for pastoral counseling. My office is always open for you to come by and talk about struggles you may be having, to receive private Confession & Absolution, for prayer, or simply to chat! For example, if you love video games, you can simply swing by and chat with me as a fellow gamer! (I am currently hooked on Destiny 2, Elder Scrolls Online, and Animal Crossing New Horizons.) There are many other joys of life we can chat about as well.

My hours may somewhat vary from week to week depending on scheduled meetings and visitations, emergencies, and personal things, but for the most part I’m always available between 9 and 5. If you ever need an earlier or later time to come in and chat about anything, please do not hesitate to let me know and we can schedule a time that works best with your schedule. On Mondays, I always have lunch with the LCMSU students. If you ever need to get a hold of me and I’m not at the chapel, please do not hesitate to call, text, or email me. May the Lord bless you and keep you in your going out and your coming in!"

In Christ Our Savior,
